On July 19, 2008 I severed a chunk of flesh off my left finger. On July 22, 2008 I went to George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) for my first follow-up care after the injury.
Dr. Neviaser informed me that standard care is NOT to numb my damaged finger when removing the base gauze. The only choice I was given was to have MFA personnel rip off the gauze. I knew I could not handle the pain of having the blood and flesh encrusted bandage ripped off my wound. Not wanting to have MFA personnel or Dr. Neviaser to rip off the blood and flesh encrusted gauze. I was left to my own accord to remove the encrusted gauze. MFA personnel provided me with hydrogen peroxide, splint shears, and tweezers. The film is of me removing the gauze in the MFA facility.
Dr. Neviaser, in my opinion, does not have a good bed side manner and MFA supported his course of treatment.
Needless to say, I will never go to another MFA facility or doctor.
