This is the original version of the Vancouver punk anthem later re-recorded by the Subhumans (who featured ex-Stiffs Gerry Hannah and Mike Graham) and has been covered by DOA, Screeching Weasel, Overkill and many others

Recorded in May 1978 but was never released until 1991 when the song appeared on the double-CD compilation "Last Call: Vancouver Independent Music 1977-1988"

  • WHAT WERE SOME STIFFS ALBUMS? I CANT FIND SHIT!

  • @howlingmongoose They weren't around long enough to release anything. As far as I know they only recorded a demo before two of them formed the Subhumans

  • @howlingmongoose Actually, there is a Live Stiffs album on LP. I own it. ;)

  • @amandanuchols are you sure it's the Vancouver Stiffs?

  • who originally wrote this song?

  • @ninetales00

    Gerry Hannah (aka Gerry Useless)

  • @howlingmongoose I have only one compilation.

  • Nie dla ACTA !

  • I completely fail to understand why more of this shit didn't better penetrate across the border. There's so much Canadian punk & rock that we missed out on down here (USA in general, Philly specif). I've always had a good time and fair deal with the Canadian punks.

  • @JimmyHeartburn75 Hmm...very likely not. The stuff I know is Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Ian Dury & the Blockheads, Nick Lowe, Wreckless Eric and Larry Wallis. I punched in The Stiffs into YouTube and this came up, so I presumed it was the same thing. Same time period, at least. Anyway, the Live Stiffs album is great too, lol, even if it's Brits instead. Cheers!

  • Damn, after hearing this song played by Overkill, DOA, Subhumans, and the Stiffs I gotta say that all of them kick ass!

  • @pleasuretokill Haha I know what you mean.

  • I've been an Overkill fan for 23-24 years now and I just now learned that their e.p. was based on a cover song. Holy shit.
