Awesome horor horn!

That horn on the P42 gives me the creeps. It sounded like a whistle, not a K5LA.

Sounds like freezing rain to me....doesn't take much of that to foul a horn.

Aaaoohh...FAIL! Two fails for the price of one! :D
When my brother was working as a brakeman for SP, he said that he had to sit in a helper locomotive and honk the horn when they hit a cab buzzer because the lead unit's horn was like this.
That Amtrak reminds me of someone who has been screaming all day.

What the hell was up with that freakin' K5LA?!!

Yep... just seems like it would be a better idea to keep things functional in bad weather.
Wonder why they don't have bonnets for the horns?

Some RRs have them and some don't. I know the MBTA has them for their K5LA horns, but I think that's mainly to prevent birds and bugs from flying into them.

There was obviously snow in both horns.

The 8530 is pretty common on this train, but the 8565 was seen once here and hasn't been seen since.
