The heads LOOK fine to me. Not sticking valve from what I could tell by depressing them. The cylinder has some rough areas at the bottom which you can feel. The top of the cylinder has some also but not as rough. The sides look fine. We ARE able to duplicate the sound. Sounds like what someone mentioned on the list - piston slap. We will pull the cylinder in the morning.

  • There have been many issues with Jabiru 2200 and 3300 engines however these are all cured by fitting liquid-cooled heads from Rotec Engineering of Mordialloc, Victoria, Australia. The original heads are made of the wrong kind of aluminium, the Rotec LCH use a much harder aluminium and without the need for cooling fins they weigh a little less than the standard heads, overall weight of an installation is about the same as with the original heads. Rotec equipped engines should reach 2k hrs TBO.

  • if the valve strikes the piston that's all she wrote....
