The only problem with DuhT in regard to orchestral playing is that notes are generally supposed to resonate which the tongue stop of T compromises, in my opinion. DuhT is fine for Jazz though.

Great sounds Joey!
I wouldn't worry about some of the dumbasses that think they know everything and
convey their stupidity by harshly critiquing.

Bravo! And Yes you should shape the note with "dHOt" little d little t, this is very common in orchestral playing it's just not as encouraged for younger students who exaggerate the ends of long notes. A note must have a beginning middle and an end it's very important to shape! You sound great man keep it up I will be following your career with great excitement!

A great sound, great range, and multiple tongue. There are reasons everyone plays certain note lengths/releases. This concept of release works wonderful in drum corp, marching band, show/ jazz - anywhere with lots of trumpeters in the section. HOWEVER, this release would get you nowhere in the classical/ symphonic world. It comes across as rather pecky. Joey's savng grace in terms of this is he has a great sound that is not affected by this release. Just the opinion of a nobody.

@afknoob123 That's a Monette Ajna not a Getzen.

You have brought me to absolutely LOVE playing classical trumpet, simply by watching your youtube vids!
Your advice on another video of playing low on the pitch has been the single most helpful tip I've ever been given, I can now play for hours before getting fatigued!

Joey Pero rules! Woo!
From the sound of some of the notes in the verdi, it is evident you are not using "duht" on the faster runs. And please don't tell people that is the correct approach to something of that nature.

@aspeyr1 As I expressed at the top of the video, I in fact used "duht" for all single tongued passages. Understand there is no "correct approach", thoughts expressed are based on what works for me. With the internet, youtube and other similar outlets, our community of musicians have an opportunity to learn from world wide sources; just more tools for our tool box! Remember, at the end of the day, we are all in this together. Cheers!
