Enterprise Ireland 'Big Ideas' HIGHLIGHTS

Big Ideas' has become the key event in the Irish technology commercialisation calendar. This year's event took place in Dublin's new world class Convention Centre Dublin on Monday 10th October 2011. The event showcased the latest collection of eighteen investment opportunities, each with its own merits and business potential. These ideas are the culmination of years of research by some of Ireland's finest researchers. Their research is solving real problem and creating real opportunities. For these 18 presenters, the event was focused on securing investment and identifying business partners that will bring their technologies to the next stage of commercialisation. Big Ideas 2011 was also an opportunity to discuss commercialisation prospects with Technology Transfer professionals from research institutes throughout Ireland in what is called the "TT Expo" part of the Big Ideas event. A poster exhibition, the "Technology Tunnel", highlight over 100 of the next wave of technologies that in years to come may be commercialised through spin-out companies or through licences to existing companies. Sean Sherlock T.D. Minister for Research & Innovation presented Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Awards to 3 companies that showcased their technologies at similar events in the past and have since successfully established a spin-out company.
