@RAPR117 the safety on all the pre mark v rifles ive seen are located on the bolt but the bolt itself is different. THX alot tho

I was able to age my gun based on the serial number and the placement of the safety. For the .300wby, the safety was moved from the receiver to the bolt after the first year production was moved from USA to Germany. I found a list somewhere online the production history per serial number for the .300wby...I'm not sure about the .243win. I don't even know where I found the chart I have now, as I saved it to my computer via .PDF. Sorry I couldn't be of better help.

My Mark V 300Wby was made in 1959 in Germany. Very nice gun!

@truck090 ?? a 300 WBY will knock you on your ass.

@noahboa13000 - the mark v was once made in Japan, I believe in the early 70's that they stopped producing them and are now made in the USA. Before Japan, they were made in Germany until the 60's. Many people believe the Japanese Mark V was the very best and I tend to agree with them.

I have one in my house :P

The trouble with Weatherby cartridges is that they were designed before we had better powders so Roy Weatherby simply added "more powder" to make them go faster. That creates more pressure and erodes the barrels faster shortening their life. Today, you can get smaller cartridges with less powder to do the same thing. Weatherby rifles on the other hand are works of art.

a 30-06 has a low recoil but a a power very lower than a 300
but a 300 with a BOSS System has a high power and a reasonable recoil
-
whats better... a 300 or a 30-06? as in recoil and power
at 0:35, whats that other case on the bench? 45-70?
