On Friday 19 August at 07:45am, a ŠKODA Octavia vRS officially became the world's fastest 2.0-litre supercharged production car when the 600 bhp 'salt spec' racer -- built to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iconic vRS performance flagship badge -- registered a Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) sanctioned speed of 227.070 mph on Utah's legendary Bonneville Salt Flat.

@zeegoosey hahaha, thick loser. Look in Driver Power awards and see where your failing Renault are. Skoda win every year, Renaults are at the bottom with Fords, Fiats and Alfas etc. Id rather DRIVE my Skoda than Push any other make. I'd rather walk than push any Renault.

@Lav25th1 The Octavia is built using the Golt/TT/Leon/A3/Beetle platform. It does not share the Passat platform and sits between the Golf and Passat sizewise. It's actually much better built than any of the VAG group cars, as googling JD Power survey or Driver Power survey will confirm - Skoda have won Driver Power 3 years running, and been in top ten of JD Power for the past 18 years.Only a minority of badgesnobs still deride the car, much to their loss :-)

@richoverip But the Octavia is BETTER than the Mondeo, and even beat the new shape Focus recently in a group test. Some people are shallow and buy a badge. Personally, 20 years since they took over Skoda, VW have done a great job turning the brands image around, so much so that people are now ditching their Passats and buying Skoda Superbs as they are better cars full stop.
