I agree: rowing is easily the best way to burn fat and gain muscle. It's invigorating and produces quick results.

I row and i've been told during fall rowing, that if your not rowing during the winter. The coach either wants you to be doing a physical sport or erging. He thinks the best sport to do over the winter would be swimming.

@ForgottenSteelersFan I just get feelings of oh jesus.. fucking christ.. but I end up finishing at the end, mind over matter, and take each part at a time, try to avoid thinking about how much there is left, do it in bites, ok 1 mins, ok 5 mins, ok 10 mins.

upper body doesn't get built up from rowing as much as your legs...

I row crew and I would agree that rowing is the best calorie burning exercise. There were times while rowing when I thought that I would die but I found that If I push past that then I get better results.

what do you think about jump roping? some experts say it's the most effective cardio in the shortest amount of time yet others will say it's not effective enough b/c you're not utilizing a lot of your leg muscles like running. I'm so confused, I love jump roping, pls give me your opinion on this Yuri. I've lost 8 lbs so far jump roping and interval training, but I seem to have plateaued. Thanks for all your help so far!!!!

wouldn't swimming be extremely beneficial for burning the most amount of calories because it is a "total" body work out and an intense cardio work out.

@JPlesley Yes, to some degree. But because you are boyant (ie. floating) you are more efficient than when running. Thus you probably wouldn't burn as much fat as you would running at the same pace. Swimming is still great nonetheless.
