  • @Cygnus65 He is giving his PERSONAL opinion as a Biblical scholar. Every opinion by its very nature is biased so trying to accuse him of being fallacious is ridiculous in the extreme.

  • No tru scotsmen.

  • 4-as to those who do not believe in the hereafter, we have surely made their deeds fair-seeming to them, but they blindly wander on.

5-these are they who shall have an evil punishment, and in the hereafter they shall be the greatest losers.

6-and most surely you are made to receive the quran from the wise, the knowing god.

  • He looks like Toby Zeigler from The West Wing!

    Speaks wisely like him too!

  • myths? political metaphors? Those are exactly the criteria that are so out of place when discussing this topic. It's "biased' people like N.T. Wright that study the texts within their historical context and not fluff. He's a bishop so he must be reading the NT like a brainwashed child, right? Come on

  • And many in the Seminar have equal reasons to be biased. Whether you agree with him or not, NT Wright seems to work very hard to be unbiased, and intellectually honest. I would say the same of some who disagree with him. But to say that he bases his beliefs on a blind faith that doesn't take the evidence into account I don't think is fair.

  • A Bishop of the Church of England and an apologist to defend the assertions of the faithful; Oh, he doesnt have a vested interest maintaining the party line, does he? The Jesus seminar was not looking at the bible through faith, as most are taught the bible in Sunday school, but a record of humans trying to explain who Jesus was by using the myths, political metaphors, and popular stories of that time. Thats it.

  • devils!!!!

  • TJS is the most absurd panel for determining a thing ever assembled, all the more because so many who buy it are not thinking of one obvious point: why don't we study brain tumors that way or quasars or ancient Greek pottery? Assemble a panel of 150, the vast majority of whom are not even close to being specialists in the named fields and then let them vote! LOL! If Chris J. Willott has something to say about Quasars, I want to here it, but if Whoopie Goldberg does, well, you know the rest.
