Socialism is similar to what Marx said, but on a lesser scale. Famous socialists include Eugene Debs, George Orwell (actually, he calls himself a democratic socialist), Emma Goldman, and in a way, the recently deceased Howard Zinn. All in all, they tried to imprive the conditions of the working poor and the lower classes from the abuses of the rich and powerful.

Like I said, Marxism and Socialsm have been used as masks for dictatorship.

Karl Marx wrote his philosophy, known as Marxism/Communism, out of desperation of the conditions of the working poor. According to him, the lower classes, or the proletariate, should be in a better position than the oligarcs, or the rich. Also, they must all share things with each other in order to prevent greed and avarice. Early Christianity lived in this way according to the book of Acts.
