  • I am from Montana but I am a die-hard Tar Heel fan. But I have to say, I agree with Coach K. These two teams dominate college ball and have for the past 4-5 decades. I hate dook with a passion and can't wait for the Heels to run all over them!!

  • @michaeldean88. haha in light of the NBA lockout crap I feel you.

but a lot of carolina+duke players go to these great schools for the exposure, in hope of eventually making it to the NBA. why else would they spend all that time working on their game?

i have a lot of respect for Duke. Coach K is one of the best of all-time (waddup all-time wins record), I just like Coach Roy's approach to coaching and Carolina much better...

    (we flop a LOT less)

  • @airpro869 Who gives a shit about the NBA? This is college basketball son, the real shit! You need to get you stuff straitened out. We Carolinians don't give a damn about the NBA. Need I go on?

  • @airpro869 Really? First of all, Jason williams and Jay Williams are the same person. And he is by no means a bust. He was a fantastic rookie with all kinds of potential, but got in a car accident and was unable to play again. By definition, that is NOT a bust. And Gerald Henderson has played two seasons. Last season he showed great improvement. If this lock out ends any time soon Henderson could definitely be the leader of his team and continue improving over the years.

  • @BeaglesRuleTheRoost Okay..lets talk about former Dukies, NBA role players/busts: Christian Laettner Jason Williams Jay Williams Shelden Williams Mike Dunleavy Chris Duhon JJ Reddick Gerald Henderson Danny Ferry Josh McRoberts ...need i go on?
  • @froggerspawn Go suck yourself

  • @makeitrain47 raymond felton is a bust. he's a below average starting nba point guard, who's now being eclipsed by ty lawson in denver. as for marvin williams...well hes a HUGE bust. a second pick as a rotation player? that is unacceptable. the guy hasn't averaged over 15 ppg once in his career. he excels at absolutely nothing other than mediocrity. he's garbage. hansbrough will be discarded like a used condom once indiana realizes he has not potential left. the only thing he offers is hustle

  • that's why Williams brings in these ridiculous freshman classes every year, because for him its necessary in order to compete at a high level. Coach K can live without having a monster class every season because knows how to get players to buy into his system.

Not saying Williams just rolls the balls out and lets his guys play, but because he has superior talent, he doesn't focus as much on team chemistry and fitting his players into roles.

  • Yes, Coach K does try and get the best talent he can, but even with just decent talent he still wins because he has a basic system in place.

Williams, on the other hand, is more of a "personnel-athlete" coach, AKA a "player's coach". he has kind of an uptempo system, and he emphasizes defense, but he's more reliant on having talent and depth than Coach K is. whereas Coach K tends to slot players into roles, Williams relies more on the players' talents.

  • I used to compare Coach K and Roy Williams by their records and titles, but their styles are also very different, not just in terms of strategy but their overall philosophy.

To steal from a book titled "Blindsided" by KC Joyner (actually about football but still applies) Coach K is more of a "scheme-hitter" coach, meaning his philosophy is more based on strategy and being tougher than the other team.
