The Boehner plan is dead on arrival in the Senate if it passes the House which is not assured. The Reid plan is dead on arrival in the House if it gets that far. Neither plan addresses revenues. Norquist with his pledges which lock Republicans into a no tax (revenue) vote and the Democrats with no equivalent of Norquist in their think tank are both lacking the American need. JOBS! JOBS! JOBS! Venting is good for my blood pressure if not for my social security and veterans benefits.
The Boehner plan must, without any doubt, be rejected. Many of us feel that President Obama has not shown the backbone that we had hoped he would on behalf of working Americans and the poor. Republicans have bulldozed him, and he appears to be reluctant in even standing on his 14th Amendment right as President in raising the debt ceiling. He has at least accepted Seantor Reid's plan, which is far from perfect but is probably the best we can hope for. I applaud Senator Tom Harkin for his stand.
They have this financial crisis so involved in the country that they have no time for other issues, for instance bullying in the work place, desperate jobs needed for people of 50 and older, Road repair, over expenditures of Government contractors, Veterans needs of all wars and conflicts, Fair share in Iowa, etc. So when are these issues going to be addressed? Especially older Government employees being forced out of there positions. Come on lets do the right thing here. Mr. Harkin.
We need more reasonable people like this in Congress. Thanks Senator Harkin!

Please make the republicans listen to common sense and quit hurting the poor and working-class Americans!
