The team Lynda's Ladies was created to honor Jen's mother (Lynda) who is an 18 year breast cancer survivor. Lynda was given a 20% chance to live for 5 years, but due to a clinical trial - she is still with us today.
In 2009, Jen Hammel (team leader of Lynda's Ladies) participated in her second 3-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, benefitting the Susan G. Komen Fund and the National Philanthropic Breast Cancer Fund. The walk was 60 miles over the course of three days (Oct 9-11th) in Washington DC and surrounding areas.
Jen would like to thank Healthworks Fitness Centers for allowing her to train at their facilities, the 30+ local businesses who donated to the August fundraising event, and all of the friends, family members, and complete strangers on the street who donated to the event. Through all of these donations, the total raised by Jen was $6,639!!
