@CarlD2 The Mindy/Alex feud worked only because of McKinsey. It was always intriguing to see Bev in action. Dusay and Crampton didn't set the screen on fire.
I liked Mindy being seduced by Roger because it took the character to a whole new level. And I understood vengeful Alex never forgiving Mindy for it because of Mindy's history with her family. But I hated that the writers started writing Alex was jealous of Mindy's beauty. By the time McKinsey left, Alex was a gorgon.

@hanikonquar Yeah it's such a nice change from the usual cliche of the older woman as some gorgon who cannot tolerate a younger pretty thing. I'm afraid that is the trap which they often fell into later on with Mindy and Alex, especially after Kim and Beverlee left and Mindy became this extremely dull Barbie.

@hanikonquar Kit was one of the many failed AW ingenues of the late 70s and early 80s wasn't she? Bliss seems more at home here.
As for Larson, she's a very good actress, I just think she was a bit overpowering and that didn't offset the writing issues with the character.

@CarlD2 I loved that too. Her support of Beth immediately put her on opposite ends of Alan, who never wanted Beth around, which was very clever of the writers. No matter how cold or ruthless she could be, Alexandra was a romantic. She supported youth and first loves. Alex knew young love when she saw it and celebrated it - a nice twist on the woman who lost at love.

@everydayrebellions The actress Bradley Bliss previously played runaway heiress Kit Halloway on AW, opposite Ray Liotta's Joey Perrini. Incidentally, Kit's aunt Miranda (Judith McConnell) was introduced to be the new Iris of Bay City after McKinsey left the show for TEXAS (a Miranda-Mac-Rachel triangle was planned but scrapped).
Funny - I always thought McConnell would have been a fit Alex recast after McKinsey left GL.

@CarlD2 Bite your tongue - lol. I loved Larson's Calla, and always loved her chemistry with McKinsey on both GL and TEXAS.
Irizarry was one of GL's best young finds. He always worked wonderfully with McKinsey. They looked nothing alike, but were so mother and son. After McKinsey left, they just didn't know what to do with Nick McHenry. He just didn't have that special endearing connection with Dusay as he did with Bev, as evident in this scene.
Love how he sees himself in her.

Forgot to say how much I love Alex's reaction when Lujack says she's his mother. Beth is so happy for her too. It's such a sweet moment. The show was very smart to have a friendly relationship between the three of them, albeit with some tension, instead of having Alex declare war on Beth or something.

I love Alex's reactions to her. She reminds me of Alley Mills. Nothing against Lisby Larson but I think this woman would have been better as Calla.
That doesn't seem like a Lujack outfit. It's quite nice though -- he looks a lot better than many would wearing a Scrabble board.
Oh yeah! I remember her! Her name was Muffy Baxter.

@Jenniferkate Oh that's it! She shows up in another scene at the country club but I couldn't remember her name. Thanks!
