The slow build up of tension as Clive Candy prepares to fight a dawn duel with Theo Kretschmar-Shuldorf in Berlin in 1903. One of the best scenes from this Powell and Pressburger movie, admired by the likes of Scorsese.

  • No, it cuts to a scene outside where anxious friends are waiting - then the hospital.

  • No it's digital camera clip taken from my laptop - hence the terrible quality.

  • Marvelous film, I watched this film for the first time last night! I had never even heard of it before. Although I didn't much care for the "frame" story of the war exercises, there were many wonderfully constructed scenes, like this one. The superb scene in the Berlin beergarden, the transition scenes of the trophy heads ( with the oddness of having his dead wife's painting among them!) and most of all the brilliant "This is NOT a Gentlemen's War" speech.

  • Is this a 16mm print of this film or something?
