  • An "Angel from Montgomery" refers to a pardon for a prison sentence from the governor. It is also used to refer to a last minute pardon from the death sentence. The phrase originated in Alabama where the capital is Montgomery. The way John puts it the woman is living in her own self made prison that she can't escape from, hence she needs a pardon (the angel from Montgomery).

  • Better than Dylan. Simply the greatest song ever written, in my humble opinion. This man was a story teller of the highest order. Brilliant.

  • When you listen to a song twenty times in a row you're either 14 or in love with the song. Better go off and check out his other stuff but I can't stop listening to this. It's perfect and too good! Arrgh! I'm going to sleep in for work tomorrow. Thanks a lot Prine.

  • @mlc2005 I get that too. Blood on The Tracks is to me Dylan's most open record but it's still cryptic as fuck. I love what I've heard of John Prine. A new discovery for me. Love it and cant wait to go through all of his records. I'm pretty excited! I'm 10 years old again and never seen The Empire Strikes Back!

  • Can't believe after being a mad Dylan fan for so long that I've just heard of John Prine through a film! Just finished watching Leaves of Weed, really liked it and pretty good soundtrack, Norton is ridiculously brilliant as usual.

My 8 year old kid loves Dylan, I asked him who it reminded him of and of course he said Dylan. The hammond and Okie accent are there but Prine has his own thing going on. I love it. Made my day! Tomorrow is red wine and John Prine vinyl hunt.

  • @mlc2005 I think maybe you should listen to the whole "Blood on the Tracks" album before making that statement.

  • @mlc2005 imho dylan is a little(way way way) better.

  • @peacedragon12 just as good, for sure
