Some enchanted evening
You may see a stranger,
you may see a stranger
Across a crowded room
And somehow you know,
You know even then
That somewhere you'll see her
Again and again.

Some enchanted evening
Someone may be laughin',
You may hear her laughin'
Across a crowded room
And night after night,
As strange as it seems
The sound of her laughter
Will sing in your dreams.

Who can explain it?
Who can tell you why?
Fools give you reasons,
Wise men never try.

Some enchanted evening
When you find your true love,
When you feel her call you
Across a crowded room,
Then fly to her side,
And make her your own
Or all through your life you
May dream all alone.

Once you have found her,
Never let her go.
Once you have found her,
Never let her go!

  • is this an old 78 running at 38.Unfortunate choice for Robeson, if he had sang it like Pinza then we would all have this in our saved list

  • @brucemichreb

It's not an old 78rpm, but a 9,5 ips mono tape, and the speed is correct.

  • @BarackOreprobate It was his last recording. He was ill and depressed. If you want a fair picture of this man, you should read Martin Duberman's biography. Did you know he sang and spoke in Yiddish in Stalin's Russia? Whether you agree with his politics or not, he was a kindly generous man, supremely talented and deserves more than to be written off a just a 'commie'.

  • @johnydee15 - He was a communist because the land of the free (at that time) wasn't. He had more freedom in communism than he had in the US.

  • He was a Communist , So what everybody is entitled to their own opinion and beliefs dont judge this remarkable voice on the mans politics, their are many on the right who cant sing a note and are absolute shitbags .

  • I don't get these comments. The Voice is still stunning in this recording. Paul Robeson was one of our greatest artists.

  • @johnydee15 Appalling!

  • @BarackOreprobate Oh dear, he was a COMMUNIST!!! How APPALLING!! I suggest you read the Wiki on Robes, and then you might find out WHY!! You redbaiters make me want to throw up.. Get back under your stone.
