"Wait, what do you mean?" Miley shook her head, trying to wrap her head around Nick's statement.
He stared at me, a light smirk on his lips. "Exactly what I said."
Miley shook her head. "But that doesn't make any sense because that would mean that—"
"I'm going to your school?" Nick questioned with raised eyebrows. When Miley nodded, he chuckled. "That's because I am."
"I thought you didn't go to school...?" She stared at him incredulously, feeling herself lose her mind.
He barked out a sharp laugh. "How old do you think I am?"
Her cheeks heated up momentarily as she cleared her throat, looking away. "I don't know... maybe 19? Almost 20?" She bit the inside of her cheek.
He smirked. "Flattering," He cocked his head to the side. "But I'm 18." He licked his lips, looking down at her with those dark brown eyes of his that made any girl swoon.
She nodded her head, processing this in slowly. "You're 18..."
"That's right." He rocked on the heels of his boots, staring at Miley as if I had two heads.
"So you're just one year older than me?" She stared up at him, squinting from the vivid sun rays.
"If you're 17, then, yes." He looked at her amusingly, gazing her from head to toe with a slight smirk on his lips.
"Oh," She laughed lightly. "Well that makes sense, I guess."
He merely stood there, staring at her. Something about the way he stared at her brought goosebumps to rise on her skin and she couldn't tell if that was good or bad considering the situation.
One thought couldn't escape her thoughts though: how did someone just one year older than her act so much older? He was dark, mysterious and dangerous... the complete opposite of most eighteen year olds she knew.
"You coming or are you just going to stand there?"
Miley snapped her head up to see that Nick had already began walking again. "Oh, right." She caught up to him as they both walked into the school, Nick just an inch in front of her but they were remotely close.
Miley couldn't help but notice all eyes and attention from the students in the hallway were shifted to them once they entered the building, drilling holes into their backs. Growing slightly nervous, Miley turned to Nick. "Hey Nick?" She whispered while looking at everyone they passed who stared right back with wide eyes.
"Yeah?" He kept his eyes forward, not paying attention to anyone or anything, his posture poised, his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket.
"Why is everyone staring at us?" She looked up at him to see his face harden slightly.
"Because you're with me." He responded monotonously.
"What does that have to do with anything?" She furrowed her eyebrows, completely oblivious.
He stopped walking causing Miley to almost stumble into his back until she caught a hold of herself. Turning around, he licked his lips, staring at her. "Let's just say..." He took a look around the hallway at the students before turning his attention to her. "I don't have the best reputation in town."
Miley felt the hairs on her back rise like those on a porcupines. A dark aurora forming around the couple the moment those words came from his lips.
i swear one day youll release books and i will buy every one of them!
