@bartp84 yes alot of this stuff will make people lazier, but there is similiar tech that is extremely economical. Things such as calling your home system and turning the heat on for only one section of your house saves alot on heating bills.

Totally agree , we'd rather spend our technologies on usefull things than this kind of bullshit. Its nothing more than a money business and it makes people even more lazy than they already are now

@speew03 True as well. See above comment ^

@bokiseles Sorry what I was saying is that the technology is available today, however, the technology is not ready yet for mass production. This makes the technology only really available and usable by early adopters who can write their own software.

@cornboy3 and if you can afford it

what heppends if theres a blackout in town, these systems have their own generetors in the basement or you keep your self lock as prisioner in you own house.

In my humble opinion, this is besides the point of building automation. This seems to me to be a way of integrating various different systems with eachother (he mentions many different brands), instead of the approach I personally consider proper ; use one system, such as KNX or LON to manage everything and thus share hardware devices.
It's also in my opinion a reduction in comfort to press all those buttons - a proper intelligent installation needs to be told little, but not all. :)

@raymondleeleggs No, designed to set people free. People can use their time for exercising, reading books, instead of pushing buttons.

In the near future all homes will be automated with these systems, it doesn't seem practical yet but eventually it will become mainstream like cellular phones, the internet and everything else that went from a want to a need. I would invest in public stock now for long term growth.

i do not think the way of hundreds of buttons at home is user friendly, as well as memorising thousands of functions of buttons.
If you know how to do it, this technology is available today.
