@spacestories Yes I remember the rain. I recall the beginning sound of a helicopter played throughy the quadrophonic speakers. It sounded so realistic

Yo all! I was at this gig also. It was actually on my 15th birthday, and my first gig ever, so a nice one for my first gig.
Anyone recollect a large pink fist being on the stage? It was about 4 foot tall and clenched. Just wondering as my friend and i took it afterwards, got it all the way home on the tube, then realised, hmm this is ridiculous, what will our parents say, and we dumped it lol

@cosmicdave1951 yes Mountain, ...along with The Faces and also Quiver... Just read that Les West lost a leg due to infection complicated by diabetes... apparently he joked that he'd "...be f**ked if it was one of his arms! "... Obvioulsy he's not one to mope around for very long... brilliant showman... remember his playing being one of the high points of the day... has a new album coming out in September i believe..

@BirdmanPG I think Mountain were playing that day as well!

I was there! Tripping with a traffic cone on my head and I do remember the inflatables coming out of the lake in front of the stage. I also rememeber the most amazing lightning storm which we called God's Light Show and thought it had been laid on for the concert! I was with my wife at the time, Lynne, who was pregnant with my first daughter, Melanie. All the more poignant! Thanks for putting this up

@pinkfloydrule27 @pinkfloydrule27 As I remember it the octopus was black but hell its been a while.. I recall speakers being set up on either side of the grass seating area and when they played what would become "echoes"... everyone's heads spun around as the musical "drive by" swung from one set of speakers to the other and back... I am so glad I saw this... i don't remember if it was the same day but I saw Les West and Mountain play at CP too... another great gig...

I've got a Roger Waters interview with Mary Turner where they disagreed on whether a bunch of fish in the pond died. And Mary wasn't sure whether it was from the dry ice or the volume that killed them. Either way, Roger says, "But if they did, you get that in life sometimes". Classic.

@BirdmanPG I was there too and remember the Octopus well. It had been a hot afternoon and I recall that it poured with rain just as they performed Fat Old Sun.

Yep I was at this concert as well. Went down from Cov with my mate Harry to London, dropped some acid and errrrrrr..............I think The Faces were on ( with Eddie Waring being picked up from the Rugby League Cup Final through the amps) then Mountain, then "Elvis" made an appearance and then the Floyd.
It did rain which scattered the crowd, yes there was something crawling in the lake but Harry and me were just blissed out watching this great great band.Lovely memories.
wheres the scary ghost part? or is it that they didnt play that part in this concert?

i think its a tape flip so the part is skipped but i havnt listened to this bootleg for a while its possible that they missed it out

OMG I was at this concert , I was 15 years old. There was an enormous inflatable octopus that appeared from the pond and a bizarre lighting storm during the show but no rain... and no I wasn't high,... probably the only one there that wasn't!!! Thanks for this amazing trip back in time,,,
