Water festival named in Cameroon Douala language "Ngondo. The ceremonies begin around mid November and ends early décembre.Divers folk events are held with traditional wrestling, traditional dances Sawa (inhabitants of the Littoral Province Cameroon ) and the election of Miss Sawa.
The Ngondo ends with the water festival which takes place on the banks of the river "Wouri"
with canoe races, parades of various cantons, forecasting events of the year by the "DJENGUE" or siren when it is appealed.
Everything happens ceremony in the presence of traditional authorities Sawa and their guests as well as the administrative authorities of the city.
Good video but you could have used a SAWA music for the clip...Thank you for sharing though.
And the Ngondo is not a water festival.

Thank you so very much. How close is this music to the tempo of the music that must have been there?

There is more sacred part; it consists of the immersion of a sacred pot in Wouri by a diver who stays 9 minutes (!!) in water to go to see the ancestors who are at the bottom of Wouri. When it comes back to surface, the pot is NOT WET and it contains the message of the ancestors whom the initiates will decode it.
