The DaiButsu or the Great Budda is a bronze statue of Amita Buddha casted in 1252 AD by the sculptures Ono-Goroemon and Tanji-Histomo at the request of Miss Inadano-Tsubone and Priest Joko, who not only originated the idea of buildig this large statue and the temple covering it, but also collected donations for it.
