  • @srb8522 They can do that for really light aircraft. A military jet like an A-10 can weigh in at around 50,000 pounds fully loaded so no amount a parachutes could hold it up. Besides, if one does crash and burn they have a shit ton mothballed in the Arizona desert they can refit and put on the battlefield to replace it. Look up the "309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group".

  • They should put parachutes on the plane to save it. If its going down because the engine failed this would be useful.

  • @SecondStepGaming Yeah this plane is amazing.

  • @yoyoyoyoshua Yeah, its some cool stuff this is one of my favorite jets

  • @SecondStepGaming yeah I saw in a movie on comcast on demand there was a vid on the A-10 and a guy was holding the shell and I was like "HOLY SHIT!!!"

  • @yoyoyoyoshua it's nuts. saw the shells too and my mouth dropped lol

  • @SecondStepGaming lets just say that it needs the gun to keep balanced

  • @tennbob So noted, I still believe that there was a crash early on in the A-10 program due to a gun explosion, like to find out though. Thanks for the info!

  • @sakoshooter48 Actually this was at Edwards Air Force Base and they were testing the GAU Gatling gun. The gasses from the gun snuffed the engines and the pilot was unable to airstart and performed a controlled ejection. As I recall it was the first ejection with the aces II ejection seat and the only issue was both rockets firing at the same time, hurting the pilots back. I used to show film from the other chase plane in an egress class that I taught in the Air Force.
