You can't listen to this song without getting tears in your eyes. Just an exquisitely moving finale to an outstanding album.

Who else can write a haunting melody better than Jeff Lynne? 3:29 is just outstanding vocals......just ....indescribable.

i have conducted (air) much of this album from time to time---whirling dervish insanity. Circ 1973 Richard Lewis (the comedian) introed me to this album---not funny how much ELO has moved me over the yrs---

uh-isn't this the way it appeared on the albulm??

The single track for which Jeff Lynne's genius should be applauded!

In my collection of MUST HAVE music, Eldorado is and will always be at the top. I listened to this album, once and have loved it forever. Jeff Lynne, a poet, musician, and an inspiration.

@eightiesguy62 I concur. And these particular lyrics are haunting. To me, anyway! :)

@CalyxAsgard This is a really great song and the posting is cool!! Great job!!

@dogloverNV Jeff Lynne is a musical genius!! And was sooo waaay ahead of his time!!

I haven't heard any skips or bumps. If you are listening through headphones, check your batteries or any other medium you are using requiring batteries. I am using Beats By Dre, and this tune sounds awesome, but I know when my batteries get weak, I get skips and jumps...

@richiebear1969: That's true; Big Wheels is another great sad one. For me, Eldorado still goes a little further; there's that heartbreaking lyric, "I'll not be back... Eldorado..." Jeff Lynn really wrote some masterpieces.
Ahhhhh....what with the gaps and jumps in the sound at crucial points? Boooooo!

@USABG58 * I'm not aware of any jumps and gaps...has anyone else noticed the same thing? Can you tell me where the gaps and jumos are?

@CalyxAsgard It skips at 5:57. Excellent ending to an excellent album.

@arkngt * You're Right, I did notice a dip at that point on this video, the strange thing is, that on my original MP3, the dip wasn't there, I can only assume that either the conversion to video or uploading it to Youtube caused it.

in your written remarks & the lyrics, you have written: ""high on a hill in Avalon""
I think if you listen very carefully, it actually says:
HIGH ON A HILL IN ELDORADO.
thanks for posting this song, it brings back some great memories, of the 1970's.

@ROYALWAND * I googled Eldorado's lyrics and it seems you are correct, I can only conclude that it was the combination of the fact that it sounded like Avalon and the line "The painted ladies of the Avalon" threw me off, but then again, this reminds me of "Bring Me Down" and how everybody hears BRUCE when he meant GRUS.
