When you brake, weight shifts forward and gives the front tire more grip- that's why it's easier to apply more brake to the front than the back. Same goes for cars
@MichaelSammler That's simply because of weight transfer. Front will always be more effective at gripping than the rear. But coming from motorcycles, you should finish your breaking BEFORE you enter the turn. Grip needed for cornering multiplied by a braking force may exceed the tires traction limit. If you need to trail brake through the corner it's best done with your rear. If you start to fishtail, you can release the brake and recover. If you loose the front... You're on the pavement.
I found that breaking more with the front in a sharp fast corner, the bike corners sharper then if I break more with the back. But I feel more in control breaking more with the back and feathering the front coming around a sharp steep corner.
Heaton08 is absolutely correct.

Braking the rear wheel will result in fishtale. Not what you want.

I prefer locking up the rear wheel rather than the front one as it is quite easier to control the bike.
