I hadn't realised this version existed - it's got a less produced feel to it that the Osmonds' version and I think I prefer it, but either way it's a good song.

Thank u ....Been lookin for this great song....

Also i prefere The Osmonds version. I got to learn to know that song by The Osmonds. It is a complete different version. It's like With a little help from my friends by The Beatles and the version of Joe Cocker. Both great but what a difference.

Back in '68, in the eighth grade graduation school book, I wrote Favorite song: The Proud One! I listened to this song for weeks and sang along with Frankie as I had a High Voice (choir)!. I thought the Background voices were the Best!

@heine71 Are you some kind of arsehole to even compare the Osmonds to Frankie Valli, you are just a moron with no brains - get real you idiot!!
Thanks so much for sharing this, I always loved this song, it was not a big hit in the UK. I listen to an oldies station here in the UK called Gold, I think you can get it on the internet, and the listeners always ask for the Osmonds version, I dont know if they realise this version was the first one. Shall we say I am a little disappointed when the Osmonds one is played....

@janettwinkle Although I like the Osmonds version, this is the one I prefer as I was in my formative years when this version came out. I don't know why it didn't chart higher, but chart competition was pretty tough in the mid-60's before the generated playlists came along.
