James Kalm continues his circuit of art fairs 2009 with this visit to PULSE. Featuring an international roster of established and emerging galleries the PULSE fair has an edgier sense than the Armory show yet maintains it high standards. Featuring glimpses of works by Kim Dorland, Robert Crumb, Marcus Linnenbrick, Allison Schulnik and many others.

  • Love your new art term:

    "goobed on"

I'll be sure and help put it into circulation! :-) Nice viewing, really liked the Linnenbrink works.

  • "Take my word for it" actually a common term in New York painting studios. Goob, goober, goobed, goobing.

  • Very polite police officer...The fair looked rather empty. Where were the big guns? (I did see one though at 2.56...OK, not funny).Couldn't see the R.Crumb pieces very well. Somewhat boring art on the whole, with all due respect.. Thanks for the tour. Guess I'll go and watch the Armory videos again.

  • I think the unpleasant little secret no one wants to admit is that aside form the Armory (and they had their exceptions) the other fairs were generally lackluster not only in the work but the attitude as well.

  • Seemed like an awesome fair!

Were all of those works up for sale?

  • All the works were for sale, except for some of the 'Special Projects".

  • @itsaninsidething you're a motherfucking moron

  • Ya most of this is BS. It sucks and takes Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay less talent than people who can actually do realistic stuff. This is better than most the crap out there but stop fooling yourself. Art is here to look cool.

  • Here in the flyover states we say something similar, only it's glob or gob or glom.

    You say tomato...

  • missed the show. nice that you captured it.

    thank you!

you showed many works I would buy if I had money and a space to live with them...

  • Was that John Candy's sister as a cop?

  • Wonderful as always, James, yet you seemingly breezed right over Robert Williams' "Appetite For Destruction", easily one of the most controversial images of the 1980's (5:18)

  • i recently saw an allison schulnik, it was one of a skeleton running through a field of flowers. it was great, wonderful work of hers.

  • the economy hits the arts
