  • @KravMagaBattlecamp That is why you bring it back to the shoulder - it creates leverage and breaks the grip down so when you extend, they can't hold on. It is very hard to completely remove the weapon without extending.

  • Krav Maga teachers aren't normal...

  • @LordVsdavid you would have no leverage... you have to be able to apply force to what your doing, if you tried to just push the gun towards his head he would easily push it back, because he would have the better position and more leverage over the weapon, this way you use his advantage to disarm him, if that makes sense.

  • @kravCam

isnt it more likely to grab and push the gun towards his head then to grab it and pull it away from him? Because once the guy realizes you're trying to get the gun he is likely to shoot so if you where to grab and aim the barrel of the gun to him he could shoot himself and if he didn't you could grab the back of the gun turn to hit him with your elbow?

no offense, it just seemed faster than going back and forth with your hand

  • nice kick!

  • Nice teaching!!

A consideration, if the assailant have long arms, it would be difficult to use your butt in the extraction. Consider doing “brake take” at your shoulder, follow-up by hammer punch with gun.

    Be safe!!

  • The left hand is catching behind the slide. That is what is preventing the weapon from being pulled behind the shoulder by the gunman and you will not get it out of the defender's hand - greased or otherwise. The grip around the barrel is just redirecting. The disarm comes from further rotating the weapon in the attackers hand and jamming it back on itself so only the finger tips are holding. This also "bites" the hand causing a great deal of pain and lessing the grip but it is high risk move.

  • The only problem I have with this technique is that he is grabbing the barrel of the gun. You want to grab the gun's slide-as close to the back of the gun as possible. Because some people grease the barrels and even if they don't, it wouldn't be hard to pull the gun out from the defender's hand in that grip.
