Powhatan was the paramount chief of some 30 Powhatan Indian tribes when English settlers arrived at Jamestown in 1607. His daughter Pocahontas befriended the English and at times served as intermediary between the two cultural groups.

  • Not true!!! - Pocahontas was not married at the age of 10! - she was approximately 10-12 when she first came into contact with John Smith....she was captured a few years later, then was colonized by missionaries...it was after she was baptized that she met John Rolfe in church services!!

  • Pocahontas was ONLY 10 yrs old when she had her first sex with her husband & married him. Thats RAPE & thats the truth!

  • Now if somebody black said that,You probally would've said they're lying

  • White ppl always want to be apart of something Lol

  • i just discovered that im a descendant of Pocahontas yesterday :D i always wanted to have a little bit of native blood in me, and now i do. i wish i could find more information about the Powhatans besides the story of pocahontas though

  • A lot of people are probably able to trace their ancestry back to her...two first ladies were descended from her, Edith Wilson and Nancy Reagan.

  • Pocahontas had one child, Thomas Rolfe. Thomas had a daughter, Jane, who married Robert Bolling. Jane and Robert's son, John married Mary Kennon and that couple had at least 6 children...so the number of descendants really took off from there. It is estimated that there are over 100,000 descendants of Pocahontas living today. There is a lot of information on the web if you do a search.

  • @collegeboi317

pocahontas had 1 kid and all of you are from her line?? i don't know, white ppl back in the day claimed relation to pocahontas as that aristocracy thing like in massachusettes everybody claims relaition to mayflower passengers. its not enough to take away culture and land but now they want indian's dna too. but if you are trying to do your tree and you are white it shouldn't be too hard...ancestry.com would be the easiest way. they have that hint feature that will search great

  • how did all of you trace your family back that far. someone reply please.

  • Me to that's cool were all related like that
