The Hanoi Taxi (tail #66-0177) was retired from active service in May 2006. She was the last of the 285 C-141s built by Lockheed to leave active service. She flew 100 POWs out of Hanoi on 12 February 1973, some of them tasting freedom for the first time in six years. Each POW put their shot-down date on the face of the oxygen panel during their flight to Clark AB in the Philippines. For her retirement ceremony, the POWs she brought home were brought back for the ceremony and one last flight by this gracious lady. Most of them are old men now but their enthusiasm, emotions, and excitement were evident during this flight and retirement ceremony. She was then flown to Dayton, OH where she will spend her final days in the Air Force Museum.

  • yet all of that effort to befriends with America was just a waste. today after killing millions of our people, poisoning our country and flattening our landscape America finally realized that we are peaceful people.

  • @vntiger You're not welcome here if you're coming here to spam this page and spreading lies.

  • @Vietnam07 I am not spamming the page, im responding to other people's remark with some real facts. quote me a "lie" that I have made please.

  • @vntiger First of all, Vietnam is older than 1000 years. Nobody wanted wars. Communism wanted to take over South Vietnam. They called it "liberation" and nobody knows why? Since when did invasion has the same meaning as liberation? If Communism didn't try to take over there would not have been millions of death. And no Americans didn't kill millions. It is South Vietnam, with the American help, trying to preserve FREEDOM.

  • @Vietnam07 You're proud of VN and so Am I. I don't stand with this side or that side. I stand for what is right. And that is freedom of speech to VN. Freedom to worship and human rights. Not jail people when they speak out the conditions. Social network sites such as facebook and certain news are blocked in Vietnam. Why? It is because it prevents people in VN from spreading corruptions to the rest of the world. Or to speak freely.

  • @Vietnam07 The fact of the matter is that all is history now. You are at the bottom of the hill looking at it. You should climb to the top and have a 360 view of it. I love VN and the people but I hate seeing all the sufferings. I hate seeing the MISINFORMED--the ones who only accept things as they are. You running around and calling people Yankees and cursing aren't doing any good; or to promote your "peaceful people." Your "real facts" are as real as anyone you're debating on here.

  • I am honored to have had the opportunity to have been on this final leg from Hickam AFB to Wright-Patterson AFB...I was no one special - just a retired Space "A" traveler who just happened to be at the right place at the right time...once we arrived at Wright-Patterson, myself and the few other Space "A" riders were quickly exited the aircraft so the aircraft could be honored with the brave men who were aboard for one final flight that were brought home from Hanoi so long ago..I was blessed...

  • ive seen that one :). before and after the museum

  • Awesome video. I was never in the military but I love the old C-141. I have many fond memories of watching them do touch and goes at Travis AFB. To all the men and women who flew and maintained the C-141, I salute you! Thank you for a job well done and thank you for your service.

  • @mrgenuine1111 fuck those hippie shitheads

  • I was proud to work on this aircraft at Travis AFB. Years later working at Travis I cried every time vets came home. They were drafted into an unpopular war many just out of hi-school. Working with Nam Vets, was an eye opener. No one knows the heartache, guilt, nightmares they suffer from. They did what they had to do and got s**t for it. I appreciate all our vets gave up. Your freedoms have been paid for by our men in service. Before you talk trash, get drafted, spend 18 months & earn the rite.

  • This was so emotional for me that I couldn't even watch the whole thing at once but I did save it on my channel and I will watch it over and over. I love America & Her Warriors & Their Families that stand behind them! Hugs, Sparrow Six-Five!

  • It was an honor to see this leagend fly. You can visit this aircraft at Wright Patterson AFB at the USAF Measume. The aircraft itself is a measume inside.
