Don't forget that the glass master is coated with a thin layer of photo resist material that is developed after the laser etches the data on it.

It is the photo resist layer that contains the actual pits and lands, and the master is used only once to create a single metal mother through electrodeposition.

Then, the mother is used to create multiple pressing molds to replicate the actual discs.
