i REALLY want to become an engineer but i hate math. i understand that its a language in itself and that effort and time need to be put into developing it, but even so, math and the complex proofs with cosin and sine and all that just deter me from that type of degree. im sure if the time comes where im needed and trained, i can easily get a grasp of things, but math just pushes me away..

But the mindset we bring is founded on quantitative reasoning and a respect for data. We don't have to love it, not all of us are great at it, but we do need a solid foundation of quantitative reasoning. Engineers create things that must work within the bounds of physical law, so we have to be able to understand those laws, and mathematics is the language of nature.
