  • Oooh I would've loved to see that. Where in Udaipur did you see it? This was at Bangore-ki-Havali, and I'm sure it was a "tourist" version, if you know what I mean! (All respect to the dancer of course)

  • This dance is the Terah Talli

  • this programme is organised daily by bhartiya lok kala mandal udaipur in "bagor ki haveli". i had been there several times,,,, this terah tali dance includes 13 manjira/cymbals tied on the body. and stricked with the rythm of the background music......without failing the strick.....

  • Teratali is the correct name: 13 ways of striking ( the manjira)

Since the dance is performed by both Muslim and Hindu I don't think the Kalbaria (Sapera) are the people who traditionally perform this dance, though they probably do now in response in tourism.

  • This lady is the same one in the video I uploaded, if you'd care to check it out. A superb performer, she is, truly.

  • Hi, this is typical dance of Rajasthan Roms, tribe Sapera - Kalbeliya. Tera Telli means 13 bells/cymbals - you ment them, one is on a string in dancers hand, one in palm of second hand, 11 on costume. You can find other kinds of Sapera dance here on YouTube - look at Gulabo Sapera or Banjara .

  • Yes, you have it right. I've seen this dance in Udaipur also. I recall a somewhat more dramatic and beautiful version than that shown here, however. Unfortunately, I didn't capture a video clip. Thanks for the memory.

  • que chulo!!!

  • yea.. that is right.. this is definately terah taali

  • ..Hey!!!.. I remember that dance!!.. It's called terah taali!!..
