How did you set up the network between Windows XP and Windows 7 in the first place?

This looks great Bill, but how are these two computers physically connected to one anther? Is it with a crossover cable, some type of USB cable, or some other method? Thanks.

easiest tutorial to follow for file sharing.

one was connected via a RJ45 cable to the router the other was connected via wireless to the router.
it doesnt really matter, both can be connected to router via RJ45 or both could be wirless or you could use a cross over cable.

I just had them both connected to a router, the xp pc was connected via a cable to the router and the new windows 7 pc was connected wirelessly.

Thanks for the video. I tried following this but my XP keeps coming up as a media device rather than a PC. Do you know any way around that?

Maybe if you take a look at your media player, go into media sharing on your library tab and turn media sharing off, it will not display as a media device in the future.
