Two career Baltimore County, Maryland firefighters from Engine 3 (Woodlawn station) suffered non-life-threatening injuries in an early morning house fire at 2113 Lorraine Avenue.

Baltimore County westside units were dispatched around 6:30 a.m. for the house fire with reports of possible people trapped. Units arrived with smoke showing and initiated an aggressive interior attck. While searching the home, Lt. William Allenbaugh and Fire Specialist Kaaren Priester, fell through the first floor into the basement.

The firefighters were quickly removed from the house and attended to by Fire Department emergency medical service crews, who treated them at the scene and transported them to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Unit for evaluation.

BCoFD officials said the fire apparently began in the basement of the house and the blaze compromised the integrity of the first floor. The fire caused extensive damage to the 1 1/2 story house and was under control by 7:15 a.m. BCoFD fire investigators are exploring the cause of the fire.
