Sarah Tucker, soprano
Junior Recital - Texas State University

Don't sing for me, lovely girl,
the mournful songs of Georgia
They remind me of another life,
on distant shores.
Alas! They, your cruel melodies,
remind me of the steppe, the night; and
the moonlit features of a poor and distant virgin.
While seeing you, I could forget
that apparition so sad and sweet,
But then you sing -- and it appears
once more before me.
Don't sing for me, lovely girl,
the mournful songs of Georgia
They remind me of another life,
on distant shores.

  • What a beautiful voice and what a evolution (i listen the video response too) But i think she doesn't work with the same teacher... In this video is definitely other technique... Good luck girl, u are BIG if in 1 year u could change so many things!

  • Stunning... there are some truly beautiful moments in this. Stunning performance.

  • Great technique....good for you :)

  • I agree with operajasmotta's comment. Rachmaninov's music is so beautiful and well written that it does not need the artist to embelish it. Renee is a great singer but her approach to this repertoire is not correct as she adds her schoopy, croony thing to it. Listen to Nicolai Gedda sing this rep.

  • who are you? shut up and let this woman sing. it's an art song, not an operatic aria. therefore, she is an artist, which allows her to interpret what she needs to, how she wants to.

  • one more thing, DO NOT listen to Renee Fleming sing this. It is not the correct style.

  • Very good voice
