If you have an elevated Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), your doctor will usually recommend a prostate biopsy. Doctors put a rectal probe (small needle) 4 - 6 times into the prostate tissue.
The goal of MRI-S is to determine suspicious areas. This allows much smaller amounts of needle tracking (done with the biopsy) compared to standard biopsies. This also eliminates the need for saturation biopsies. In some cases, biopsies are not needed at all.
You should not being biopsies at all. You damn urologists don't care how much damage you do in order to collect fees. MRIS is fine but it's it's contained in the prostate, don't mess with it!
