SURREY SHOOTING MALE WAS SHOT ON 138 ST BY KENMORE DR 5 TO 6 SHOTS FIRED JAN 23 2012 BY BCNEWSVIDEO

File # 2011-10382
2012-01-24 09:33 PST
At approximately 11:45pm last night, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 93rd Avenue and 138th Street. Members located a 22 year old male laying in a pedestrian walkway in the area suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to local hospital with serious injuries to his torso.

Information obtained during the investigation led officers to conduct a vehicle stop of a vehicle of interest in the 7500 block of 144th Street. Upon officers approaching the vehicle, a newer model Jeep Cherokee, the male driver exited the vehicle and ran behind a residence in the area. Officers set up a perimeter around the residence with the assistance of the Lower Mainland District Police Dog Service and Forensic Identification Section. The fleeing male was initially thought to have entered the residence, however, visual contact was lost and a dog track was not established.

At this stage of the investigation, the person of interest is minimally described as a Caucasian male, 6'0" tall, and wearing a ball cap.

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and is not believed to be related to recent gang-related shootings in the Metro Vancouver region. The victim is also known to police.

Surrey RCMP Major Crime has conduct of the investigation and will be processing the scene and canvassing the neighbourhood.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
