I've loved this wistful song for many years and had a magical moment listening to Nanci Griffith's version on my ipod while rolling through Clare on a long awaited visit to Ireland.

yeah maybe Don McLean shared it well in his song "American Pie"....The day the music died! I would much rather listen to this kind of music than most of the crap on the radio these days. Good comment!

This man deserves respect, he came to Belfast where I live when a lot of other artists would not, I have seen him many time and apart from that he has written great songs which we will have for ever, The people in N, I. will always love you for entertaining us in the dark days when other so called artists where too fearful
The man who wrote and sand 'The Streets Of London' way back in late 1960s, is back now doing this song, and it takes me back to the olden days in London when you could listen to Artists Like McTell in Caffees whilst having an inexpensive cup of coffe, or a bowl of Soup, for about 1 Shilling = 5 pence. lol. Ralph always had his special place in British Folk Music.
