http://www.ted.com Taylor Wilson believes nuclear fusion is a solution to our future energy needs, and that kids can change the world. And he knows something about both of those: When he was 14, he built a working fusion reactor in his parents' garage. Now 17, he takes the TED stage to tell (the short version of) his story.
TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate

but fusion and fission reactor is actually easy to create and giving it a safer case(idk the right term) just requires money. He's funny.

No, no I don't think it's that... First of all, a fusion reactor is not dangerous to the general population. Secondly, in the other video TED uploaded of him, he presents his idea for small modular fission reactors and explains that the main advantage they have over current industrial reactors is safety. So obviously, he's very aware of the potential dangers of nuclear fission power, which, by the way, aren't as great as many people still believe these days, even considering Fukushima.

Jealousy, really? Or is it that the general population knows the most likely outcome of this kid's life may bring us (if anything) something even more horrible than the nuclear weapons the previous generation inflicted upon us?

The only thing that can trump the ignorance of YouTube commenters is their abundance of arrogance.

All you haters have to understand: It's kind of alright to be a bit over confident if you are totally fucking boss. That was that kid, the one you are calling cocky and boastful, thats him, next to the fucking president telling him how its meant to be done. That's him at Cern, now he is developing a more efficient, safe and compact fission reactor. Plenty of highschool kids are cockier than this kid, and they aint done shit.
