  • Great Time-lapse / Night Photography Video.

But what are the data's of this video, like compression rate ( time in video : real time ) What Exposure time/ISO/Aperture did you use?

The Eos 5D seems to have a good sensor, because the Images are quite low in noise.

  • @buchnermarkus, hello!

what I can remember, most of the frames are jpeg, iso 1000-1600, wide open aperture, exp. time from 2-6 seconds. And the time on the video are faster than realtime, maybe 5-10 times. A new video coming soon!

  • I am planning a road trip in Scandinavia. I am thinking of Copenhagen - Malmø - Stockholm - Kiruna - Tromsø - Trondheim - Bergen - Oslo - ferry to Cph.

When do you think it would the best time to arrive in Tromsø to see the aurora borealis?

  • Hi, I have an exam coming up which includes a dance. My stimulus is the northern lights, could I possibly use this footage to show the examiner my thought process?

  • I love your videos. I am a musician. If you are interested we can do some collaboration together I make the song, you make the video and we put it out there. Let me know.

    All best,

    Dave.

  • @mrpumpkinn and also, what is the best time of year to see them, in your opinion?

  • Hey! I am coming to tromso in december..but I am getting lots of different opinions as to when is the best tome of year to see the lights.

In your experience, what is the weather like in tromso in december?

  • Thank v

  • Hopefully I get to see this for real this winter, thank you for this video

  • notice that the lights do not flash, nothing Moves, only the effect, this is false

  • 08/09 best winter holiday ever . just don't go to night club in tromso main square alone at christmas when most places are closed :)

  • @F0NIX thanks for the info!

I'll be going to Poland for work from September to December, and was thinking to go to Norway to catch the Northern Lights, but can only afford a weekend because of work. :( When is the best possible time to travel? My initial plan was on the weekend of November 11 since its a holiday in Poland that time, thus maybe I could spare an extra day for travel.

Many thanks for your help thus far. :)

  • @1welcome it depend on the brightness of the Aurora Borealis. You can go to the top of the Island near a little lake called "Prestvannet", it is just a little walk up from Tromsø city centrum. There you will have a good view to the lights. I have often went there for photographing stars and Aurora Borealis.
