@jtschwingo are you handicapped or something? any professional ref should be able to make that call. I could have EASILY made that call.

this play still pisses me off. The defender's touch did not look like a "deflection". However, that would just be a fuck up by the linesman if they got that wrong.
Withstanding that, Hutchinson was a yard onside when the original ball was played. So if the linesman made that call, he was clearly favouring the US. It was not really that close. Robbed by CONCACAF so they could get their US Mexico final.

He wanted USA to win

@Jimmybangkok - I don't think there are many refs in this world that wouldn't understand how this call was made. YOU try making this call from this position in real time. You'll start crying and curl up in a ball.

Gotta agree with DaveinIndy on one point. Not a single one of you could have made this call in real time and on the field. Not robbery. Just football. If you've been an assistant referee, you know how difficult (in this case, nearly impossible) this call is.
-
@daveinindy your an idiot...ANY ref will agree to that!

Canada will be one of the good team in international soccer because alot of people play that sport it grow every year and we have better and better soccer player.

When you have to look at a replay multiple times to judge it - it becomes RIDICULOUS to label a missed call (admittedly, the Canadian was onside at the time the ball was played) as "robbery". There could hardly be a more difficult offside call to judge than this one. And NONE of the Canadian players had benefit of super-slow motion replay before engaging in their impassioned whining. It's a ridiculously tough call to make. YOU guys try making that call correctly in real time.
-
He was RIGHT about the deflection, but wrong on the player's positions at the time of the original play on the ball. That's a long way from the claim they were robbed. Not a single Canadian arguing the call saw the slow motion replay, but were certain from there excellent vantage points that the play was onside. Rriiiiggghhhhttt. That's the nature of this game; offside calls will be incorrect with regularity due to it's inherent difficulty to judge. ANY ref will agree to that.
Anyone disputing this goal obviously just hates the Canadian MNT, because it's clearly an onside play. No need to argue a fact against fans of the opposing team.

@daveinindy So if the US defender's touch was ruled a deflection, who is offside? At the time of the Canadian midfielder's pass, the goal scorer is very much onside see 0:41 Regardless, the American defender certainly intended to play that ball. He turned his entire body and reached with his head to meet it. It was a controlled play of the ball, the defender simply reacted quickly and placed the ball poorly. The AR blew this call and there's not a ref in the world who'd say otherwise.
