Let's have a look: DS vs. PSP, DS sold more. 3DS vs PSVita, 3DS sold more. Wii VS PS3/Xbox, Wii sold more. Gamecube vs PS2, PS2 sold more. In each of these cases the least graphically advanced console won due to being cheaper and being more affordable. If you think that variety wins, then PC should be WAY ahead of consoles, but ironically, PC is the least popular one.

I think he was trying to say, that the least powerful consoles in the generations, usually beat everyone out. PS2 was the weakest, while the original Xbox was the most powerful. They shouldn't have used affordability as an example. But his point still holds up, except for the fact that graphics don't really matter.

Actually the gamecube was cheaper and more affordable then the PS2, its fatal flaw was a lack of a disk space.
