Will your bike bog down like a car does of your going to fast and you don't break to slow but just down shift...? Hope that makes sense :p

lol attempted 7th gear. yeah without any sort of gear indicator, i do that quite a bit on my 250.

I'm going to be a new rider soon, hopefully and I'm trying to understand downshiting better.
Are you holding the clutch through all the gears or do you hold and release after each?

hey is it ok just to clutch it when you know you are comming to a stop, like going 40 50 60 in 6th or any gear and just clutch it all the way to a stop? and it is alright to cruise at a low rpm say like at 2000 or 3000rpm in 6th gear (no clue what the speed is) for that but would that be ok? and last question. is it ok to cruise to a stop in any gear and then clutching it around idle? thank you

@WhatWouldDerekDo Can do that.. or simply downshift to first.. have the clutch pulled in till you reach the signal, brake, and then shift to neutral. In the latter case, it's quicker to get going again if you have to (if the light turns green) because you're already in first gear.

hi rebel i am getting a ninja 250 soon and i was wondering if you shift at a certain rpm or do you just wing it? ive only ridin dirtbikes before and i've never had to worry about rpm so im concerned about it now. please help.

you can basically upshift whenever you feel nessisary.
same with downshifting but don't downshift at high rpms - otherwise, it may lead to rear wheel lockup

So im taking the basic rider course for msf and having some trouble breaking and downshifting all at the same time, haha i always end up looking down and getting yelled at, any advice? also what bike did you use for your course?
