Here's my lovely wife warily demonstrating my do-it-yourself PVC water gun. It's powered by air pressure created by the water pressure in the garden hose. More details at http://www.atterberry.net/funstuff/pvc-water-gun/

  • When you fill that, is the bottle already filled with air? So the pressure is created by the water displacing + compressing the air into what appears to be the upper 1/3 of the bottle?

And is that a 2liter or 3liter bottle? I'll have to try that... a DIY super soaker!

  • @evm2007 Yes, that's right. Start with the whole system empty (well, full of air). When you turn on the water, that air is trapped and compressed to whatever pressure the water is at (probably 60-90 psi). It's a 2-liter bottle, which fits well over the 1/2 inch PVC. In the video description, there's a link to my website with a parts list, etc.
