Palm Developer Podcast Series: Episode Six - Welcome to HP

Today we have been welcomed into the HP family which marks an exciting time for Palm and the webOS platform.

What does this mean for you, the developer community?

Phil McKinney, vice president and chief technology officer for HP's Personal Systems Group (which the new Palm business unit reports into), kindly came to meet us and talk about the opportunity that arises from an HP backed webOS. Phil discusses reasons why HP was interested in Palm, their commitment to the smartphone space, how they want to grow into new areas of mobility (e.g. slates, netbooks), and how their scale can help us grow to new heights.

Palm blew it with its user and developer base. I HP going to continue with that kind of expertise? Cloud-based? Blah, blah, blah. Bring back HotSync and Desktop.

HPalm could get updates out faster if they didn't have Upper Level Exec's focused on video's for youtube. What they should be doing is finding out why there guys are so F'n slow to release fixes and features.

Hopefully now we get some WebOS stuff in The Netherlands. I bought a Android Phone because there was no WebOS phone here. And i want a Touch Only WebOS Phone. So maybe i will be buying a HP Slate :) (hopefully with WebOS 2.0 :D)
