Dorothy Squires - The Gibraltar Anthem

Dorothy Squires sings "The Gibraltar Anthem" at her hugely successful one-woman show at the London Palladium on 6th December 1970. A couple of weeks before the concert, Dot was invited to Gibraltar to sing this stirring Anthem for the first time at the first international Gibraltar Song Festival. The Festival was held in the stunning St Michael's Cave and received a tumultuous reception from a wildly enthusiastic audience. Dot had to sing it three times that night and repeated it at her Palladium concert with great success.

I to have been a life long Shirley Bassey fan and have been listening to Squires for some years now and although she may give Dame Shirley a run for her money, Shirley still comes out on top. Squires isn't half bad though! :D

wizardlywarlock .....she is the original bassey ..welsh ..throwing her voice to and from each corner of a theatre ...she did much for the war , and had a much peppered life ...i used to be you , bassey bassey bassey ,,then i grew up ..and totally encapsulated the voice of ..dot...
