Justin Moore plays new single at USO-Metro's Deployed Family Fun Day 2.mp4

Hundreds of military families with deployed loved ones, representing all branches of service, had an opportunity on Saturday 22 May 2010 to join together as a community and enjoy an afternoon filled with fun activities, put on by the USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro). A great start to a great day, the event featured a BBQ lunch, a live performance by country music star Justin Moore, a visit from the Washington Redskins cheerleaders, and countless activities for kids (crafts, games, moon bounce, laser tag and prizes). In total, nearly 800 people attended USO-Metros Deployed Family Fun Day.

Deployed Family Fun Day is a biannual event, which was started by USO-Metro in 2007 to boost morale within the local military community, with a special focus on families dealing with a recent deployment. Today, the event also promotes the awareness of many free services and programs available to families with deployed service members. Deployed Family Fun Day is both educational and entertaining, reaching out to families to help them make it through deployments.

Anyone will tell you that deployments are especially hard on the families of our nations service members. Our goal is to help them through this difficult time, and raise their spirits through simple, but meaningful events like Deployed Family Fun Day, said Elaine Rogers, president of USO-Metro. Events like this are also a great way to promote the countless free programs and services USO-Metro provides to our local service members and their families.
