I had one of these ducks way back in 1949 when I was at boarding school in England. I was a nine year old boy at the time. That is 62 years ago.

why do engineers not make this concept into a machine that produces mechanical energy? Because it doesnt cost money for the bird to move and produce energy.
-
so this is a perpetual motion device?? My drinking bird has been going for 5 days straight. So this mean we created infinite energy ?
-
so when does the bird stop drinking?? does it run out of the fluid or something?
-
Our answer to free energy.

@stirlingsteamboy08, hi. I was given that lantern many years ago by the grandson of its original, 1900-era owner. A new rubber gasket, a charge of water and carbide: it works like new, making a really nice white light about like a 2 cell incandescent torch, but of a whiter light.
